A Brief Comment on the Effects of AI in the Workplace
AI in the workplace has led to the streamlining of the factory floor, advancements in self driving
vehicles and the possibility of having robots to serve you in your home. Currently AI is being
developed in a variety of fields from smart cars, to the assembly line, in the workplace though several
advances have arisen in areas such as reasoning and problem solving, to planning and even learning
from human counterparts. These advances while in some cases could cause a loss of jobs instead could very well re-contextualize the current job market in an AI centered future.Several security risks
from AI have arisen with its current use from refrigerators to security systems. This online model for
current AI could lead to the security risks of hacking and corporate espionage from the outside. As
stated above the next twenty years or so of AI must be monitored very closely. If an AI were to
become self aware this could cause massive ethical questions to arise such as, how is an AI’s life
valued versus a human? Can an AI be held responsible for crimes it may have been programmed to
commit? AI in the future has a bevy of options and pathways to explore. AI consciousness, self
driving cars. Any of these advancements could lead to a new and brighter future for mankind.
